Renaming the Password file

At any time after the Comet security system is activated, the system manager can rename the system password file. This can be a viable way of maintaining high security standards for the Comet system.

When you select the R option to rename the system password file, the following prompt is displayed:

ENTER NEW SYSTEM PASSWORD FILE NAME:

Type the new name you have chosen for the system password file and press Enter. The filename may contain up to eight characters.

Next, the following prompt is displayed:

ENTER NEW SYSTEM PASSWORD DIR:

Type the directory name where the renamed system password file will be stored and press Enter. The directory name may contain up to three characters, must be a valid Comet directory, and must be currently accessed at the time this step is performed.

When these two prompts have been completed, the system password file will be renamed. At the same time, the new system password filename and directory name will be stored in the keyed file name QSTART2. All subsequent access to the Comet security system will use the new password filename and directory name.
