Adding Files

From CometWiki

This will do for the moment. If any bits don't make sense, modify them so they do. I will improve this over time, this is a cut & paste of an Email I sent to tell Louisa how to get her pictures from Kauai up on the Wiki.

First you need a password to edit the wiki. You get that from Signature.

Then all your pictures need to be reasonably small. Less than 800*600.

GOto the Wiki, halfway down left hand lower choices. Upload files.

Select files for upload, I HAVEN'T FOUND A WAY OF DOING MORE THAN OE AT A TIME. It will give you a warning that they are too big, you can ingnore this. CARE, the upload program capitalizes the first letter of the name.

When you have them all uploaded, then comes the fun part. There is an option on the top line of the upload box that allows you to view all the uploaded files, yours will be at the top of the list, note how it spells them, if you and it disagree, you lose.

Goto the picture page from Kauai and then press edit. You will see how to add them. There is an icon at the top of the screen which creates the HTML type stuff, you just fill in the file name, you don't need any elaborate pathnames, check mine. You have options for placing the picture left, right and middle, and for creating a sized box to put them in. This box can be visible or not, with or without captions. I would give you examples however I can't access the Wiki at the moment.

You can experiment, after you put something up, you can preview it, if you don’t like it or it buggers up something else just go out of it and it will lose anything you have done.

The positioning of text still has me a little confused, as you will see if you look at the very last pictures on the Wiki, I moved them to the end because they were creating havoc with later pages. The size of screen that you view the Wiki on is also significant. All the pictures and text look fine on my desktop, but go a bit strange on my laptop, and heaven knows what happens using a different browser.
